Barcelona is an entire city given over to sculpture,
architecture, and painting by a single artist: Antoni Gaudi. The Sagrada
Familia has been under construction since 1882... and is not expected to be
completed until 2026! On the subject of the extremely long construction period,
Gaudí is said to have remarked, "My client is not in a hurry."
While the city is both modern and cosmopolitan in nature, it has a rich history
in architecture and the arts. The city has always proven to be a bit ahead of
the rest of the world in its tendencies, and the exquisite Gaudi architecture is
found throughout Barcelona.
